Albert L. Gillis, 77, of Aberdeen, passed away peacefully on Monday October 30, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Albert was born April 1, 1946, to the late Willie Verbal and the late Leah Gillis of Bishopville, South Carolina. In 1972, he married the love of his life, Alice Hailey. He became the father of 4 children.
In addition to his parents, Albert was also preceded in death by 4 brothers, Harold Gillis, Melvin Verbal, Tim Verbal, and Lawrence Evans; and sister, Catherine Murchison.
Albert was a loving father, husband, and friend. He enjoyed hunting and spending time working outside. He leaves to cherish his memory; wife, Alice Gillis; daughters, Tonya Ingram and Tammy Gillis; sons, Darius Campbell and Tony Gillis (Nancy); 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Willie Verbal (Ruby) of Aberdeen, NC, Ruben Evans (Debra) of Bishopville, SC, Donnell Evans (Shirley) of Virginia Beach, Roger Evans (Judy) of Pinebluff, NC, and Richard Bullard of Aberdeen NC; Sisters, Mildred Davis, Peggy Verbal, Doris McGoogan, Gladys Kershaw, Ruby Chambers, Sylvia Morrison (Bruce) all of Aberdeen, Judith Abbott, Carol Jean Harris and Brenda Evans, all of Bishopville, SC, Frances Ashe (Stanley) of Camden, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Albert Lee Gillis will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023, at Kearns Memorial, 22421 Andrew Jackson Hwy, Maxton, NC 28364.
