Vivian Whitfield Obituary

Vivian Ann Whitfield was born on September 30, 1958, to the late Gilbert McLaughlin and Beatrice Leslie. Vivian entered eternal rest on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at FirstHealth Hospice in Pinehurst, NC.

Vivian was educated in the Moore County School system. Upon graduation, she completed the CNA program and worked as a CNA during her early adult years along with being a housekeeper at the Jefferson Inn and then at Chef Warrens in Southern Pines for 10 years. Up until Vivian’s health began to fail, she worked at the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst for 18 years. She was an inspiration to others wherever she worked and had an infectious smile.

She was a faithful and dedicated member at Tabernacle Outreach Ministries where she was under the leadership of Apostle Lou Chambers and Bishop Chambers. Vivian wasn’t afraid to witness about the goodness of Jesus. She served on different auxiliaries in the church; praise and worship leader, event planner, hospitality committee, Sunday school teacher, and she was a dedicated Amour Bearer to Apostle Chambers.

Through everything Vivian endured with her health, her faith in God never wavered. She continued to worship, praise, and press her way to church.

In addition to her parents, Vivian was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Mclaughlin; siblings, Roy Gilbert McLaughlin, James Mclaughlin, Alexander McLaughlin, Flora Simmons, Frances Quick, Eloise McLaughlin, and Yvonne McLaughlin. Vivian leaves to cherish her loving memories, son, Charles McLaughlin of Southern Pines, NC; two daughters, Sheena Chambers (Patrick) of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Lytesha Vamper of Grand Rapids, Michigan; two brothers, Michael McLaughlin (Michelle) of Kernersville, North Carolina, and Dalton McLaughlin (Cassandra) of New York; aunt, Ruth Brower of Carthage, North Carolina; uncle, James Elma Leslie of Baltimore, Maryland; 13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends who will truly miss her.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 7, at Tabernacle Outreach Ministries, 4155 Big Oak Church Rd., Eagle Springs, NC 27242 at 1:00 pm followed by funeral service at 2:00 pm.  Professional Services have been entrusted to Kearns Memorial.
